This is a predatory auto shop, they can put up “family auto shop” all they want but it doesn’t mask what they do. Not only do they charge three times the reasonable amount (275 for replacing 2 lights that I needed to pass the safety inspection), they left my car filthy and I had just cleaned my car out a week prior. I understand places doing everything exactly by the book, but failing me for a safety inspection that three other shops said they would never fail for is predatory. They were saying I needed 4k of work to get my car to pass. It was $120 to get a safety inspection and Emissions, four other shops that I called were all about $75-$90 for the inspection and emissions. So in this day and age, if you wanna spend extra money And then have to clean your car out afterwards, go here!

Excellent service from start to finish. Waiting room is large, comfortable and looks out over the service bays. Wifi available as is water and coffee. Most of all, staff is friendly, helpful and explains clearly everything you need to know about your car. And if that isn’t enough, you get a full written report.

When for a balance & they randomly filled up my windshield washer fluid lol ❤️

Run run and RUN from this rip off garage !!! My daughter car failed inspection $190 . They gave her a list of MUST haves totally $4100 !!! It needs Rotors alignment, oil change , Brakes, and ball joints They took advantage of a young girl . Thankfully she called her dad ! We took the car to another garage !!!! It ONLY needed Brakes and Rotors ! Total cost $480 ! This mechanic confirmed that NONE of these additional services were NEEDED!!!! Don’t trust this place !!! They will rip you off ! SHAME on Shaeffers Garage for your DISHONEST practices !!! Zero stars in my book !

Super friendly! I only went in to get an inspection done which was relatively quick but based on the overall vibe of the staff and how they work together, I just know my car would be in good hands should I ever need more extensive work done.

I needed an inspection ASAP And they got me in the same day and took care of any issue that was necessary. Absolutely phenomenal service and great people to work with. Will be going there for all of my needs moving forward!

I'm driving a 2009 Honda Accord. It's a bucket and has been through my 2 college-age kids before it became mine. Admittedly I don't have reason to drive it often but when I do, it matters that it runs well. My most recent repair was a transmission replacement and they were upfront and honest about my options. Considering my car still has low mileage and every thing else was ok, they suggested I replace the transmission instead of replacing the car. I couldn't be happier. The car runs so nicely and I'm overjoyed that I'll be able to avoid a costly car payment.

I had a lot of work done to my car. They were very professional and kind. Very easy to talk to, had a couple laughs with them when I was there. They all are very personable. The girl at the front desk is so sweet and helpful . She goes out of her way to help with anything you need. I will definitely come back and recommend my friends here. By the way Chris keep singing it makes it even more inviting to the customers. 😁

Honestly can’t say enough about this team. Years after moving out of South Philly I still make the trek down there because these are the only guys I trust. They are dependable, won’t try to up charge me, explain everything they are doing and why they are doing it, and stand behind their word. Customer service is top-notch. They enjoy teaching their clients about cars, which I find very cool as someone who knows nothing about them. The’ve also found and corrected problems with my car that other shops have created. Your money is well-spent here.

The folks at the front desk they do what they do best deal with customers i do not blame on them of my dissatisfaction. BUT the "technician" is questionable 🤔 I had an "alignment" done supoustly by a professional not mentioning he's name but dude I have to throw you under the bus. With than been said,my second visit was the last.

I was very pleased with the customer service and professionalism. I was greeted with a smile from everyone I encountered from the parking lot to the front desk. They conducted a thorough diagnostic during my inspection and explained every finding and how they arrived at it. I'm will seriously consider them for my service needs even though I usually go to the dealership.

Hai, I’m a dog. Schafer’s has taken care of both of my driver’s cars now since I moved to Philadelphia and I like them a lot a lot. Our advisor, Chris, took all the time my grandma needed to go over repairs he would make AND the car was ready EARLY! Dad says we’ve never worked with a better auto center ever ever ever! Daddy worked with Steven (with a V just like my grandpaw!) and had an equally great experience. We will be making this our regular spot for all things car boo boo related. Did a walk in around noon and they were slammed. Said we could schedule it for the next morning then said you know what they'll make it happen before 5 when they close. Got it done with a very extensive inspection with photos and info about everything honestly so much i dont know how they did it with the allotted time. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff with a clean professional work environment. I'll trust them with all automotive work in the future. They also text you and print out a very organized itemized list which was very helpful for other repairs and the milage they are supposed to be replaced at. 10/10

If you are looking for not just the friendliest but the most transparent and honest group of mechanics in the city this is your shop. They went above and beyond in knowing that I had my catalytic converter stolen and did everything possible to reduce the costs so I could get my car back in the road. I will only bring my car here in the future. Don’t look at further for a place to bring your car. Just bring it to Schafer!!

I recently came here for an emissions test, and I cannot recommend this place enough! Not only do they have excellent prices, but the entire team is completely professional and incredibly warm. You can tell they truly care a lot about their customers, and I experienced a deeply human level of care there - something that is honestly so hard to find at other general repair shops in Philadelphia. The whole experience was just incredible. I especially want to highlight Jennifer - she quite literally saved my life! Her customer service was absolutely impeccable, warm, and highly efficient. I am so grateful for her help. I will definitely be coming back here for all my future car repairs and maintenance. If you are looking for a reliable shop, this is it. Highly, highly recommend!

They told me to come on in and they were able to atleast give me a diagnosis and they had the part the next morning and it was installed way earlier than I was told. It was a nice experience visiting this clean and organized shop. Thank you for the courtesy oil/filter change. Not many shops can afford this anymore. I was very satisfied with the front counter reception, the upstairs waiting room with service area windows, and the thorough multi-point inspection with photos, recommendations, and cost estimates! I’ll shall return in the future and also recommend to friends and neighbors!

The team here does a great job! I'm always able to get my car in within a reasonable time and they are quick to get it back to me. Everyone at the front desk is kind and takes every concern seriously. When problems come up with your vehicle they are well documented and explained, and they're honest with what can wait to be done vs what they recommend needs to be done right away. They go above and beyond and I always feel good walking/driving out of there.
